Welcome to the New Nordic Notes 2024 Show Garden, designed by Annika Zetterman and Kajsa Björne!
The garden created by Annika and Kajsa honours and showcases the inherent natural beauty and cultural richness of their Nordic heritage. Drawing inspiration from their Scandinavian roots, the New Nordic Notes Garden is a reflection of their shared cultural legacy.
This garden serves as an inspiration for individuals seeking to create their own spaces, encouraging reflection on personal history and fostering new ideas. It aims to empower the younger generation, emphasizing their role as future stewards and the importance of blending old and new traditions.
The Vision:
Using local and traditional materials sustainably, the garden promotes longevity and relevance. It provides a sanctuary for both people and wildlife, prioritizing elements like shade and water for protection. Despite financial constraints, the garden demonstrates that artistic vision can thrive within budgetary constraints, promoting innovation and thoughtful planning. Ultimately, it serves as a personal retreat, offering respite from stress and digital distractions, where contemplation, storytelling, and rejuvenation can occur in a tranquil setting.

“The Nordicness in my spirit lies deep, constantly working towards elegant and meaningful expressions through simplicity.”
Who has been the biggest influence on your design career?
Nature, itself. I have a quite dialogue when I am outdoors, observing the tiniest pattern, such as a spiders web or the remarkable patterns of a snow flake in my hand in winter.
The natural light is very special, sometimes peculiar in Scandinavia, having an impact on myself as much as it plays an important role in expressions in what I create.

“I love the power of living materials, it is the lungs of every garden without them, a garden will never be complete.”
Who has been the biggest influence on your design career?
My upbringing. Living close to nature and being surrounded by a family who share a love for nature. I developed a gratitude in the art of growing plants after growing most of our food in our garden and at my grandparent’s farm.

How is the vision demonstrated?
The New Nordic Notes Garden is your own “Smultronställe”, a private place, free from stress, where relaxation and inspiration can be found. The garden is a place to bring your notebook, contemplate and create your own stories – your New Nordic Notes – for you and
future generations.
The garden contains several areas where to be creative and where to write your own story, with a daybed in the front and a
larger decking in the back of the garden. The garden doesn’t contain any furniture but encourages movement freely within the
space, to sit or lay down on the decking.
The many lakes, streams and rivers that makeup Scandinavia’s abundant freshwater resources are illustrated with a circular
shaped waterbody under the pergola and a long stretch of narrow water in the middle of the garden. These are elements where creativity can be found through the ever-changing yet calm movement, colour and gentle sound.
The pergola is a source of inspiration, with a distinct design and pattern visible from underneath. A void acts as a frame for the
sky, where to see the clouds during the day and the moon and stars at night. The blue sky and sun rays connect and reach down in the circular water on a sunny day.
The Team Behind Construction / The Sponsors.
The garden could not be made possible without all the exceptional sponsors and suppliers. On behalf of New Nordic Notes and the Landart team, we would like to thank:
